Strengthening Patient Access and Community Engagement
The Urban Indian SPACE (Strengthening Patient Access and Community Engagement) project seeks to enhance the position of California’s Urban Indian Health Organizations (UIHO) as leaders in health delivery transformation whose community members are active partners in advancing patient engagement, strengthening patient-provider relations, and improving the health of their Urban Indian community.
Through the Urban Indian SPACE project, CCUIH will support its member organizations in gaining knowledge and resources related to patient engagement, drawing from both a broad policy level, as well as more focused clinic-level strategies. In addition to providing training to Patient Engagement Champions at each member organization, CCUIH will also support its member organizations with individually-tailored technical assistance as they work to implement their plans for enhancing patient engagement.
In addition to encompassing mainstream patient engagement strategies, the Urban Indian SPACE project plays an essential role in supporting the development of work that is culturally oriented to the unique urban American Indian populations served by CCUIH members. The project will include a focus on supporting member organizations in moving toward a patient-centered care design process that reflects the strengths and capacities of urban American Indian communities.
More information regarding specific outcomes, tools, and objectives to come.
