Sunrise Ceremony on Alcatraz Island

The Indigenous People’s Sunrise Gathering is a commemoration of the 1969-71 occupation of Alcatraz by the “Indians of All Tribes” and is a one day event. This is not the standard Alcatraz Island tour and all areas with the exception of where the ceremony takes place will be closed and inaccessible to the general public.

The ticketbooth opens at 3:00AM on Thursday, November 23, 2017 and boats will depart Pier 33 approximately every 15 minutes from 4:15AM to 6:00AM. We encourage guests to purchase and print tickets on the website. Tickets can also be purchased by calling 415.981.7625 (ROCK) or from the ticketbooth at Pier 33 Alcatraz Landing. The ticketbooth opens at 3:00AM and general admission is $14.00 per person. Children under 5 years of age are free.

Please also note there is absolutely no sale of merchandise of any kind allowed on Alcatraz Island, at Pier 33 Alcatraz Landing, or on the sidewalk outside of Alcatraz Landing.
